ANALYSIS OF CHLORINATED PHENOLS IN WATER

Abstract

Glass  capillary  gas  chromatography  was  used  for  the  examination  of  solvents  (benzene, toluene,  dichloromethane,  trichloromethane,  diethyl  ether  and  ethyl  acetate)  for  the  extraction  of chlorinated  phenols  (18  compounds)  from  water  at  different  pH  values  (2.0;  4.3  and  7.3).  The concentration  of  the  individual  chlorophenols  in  the  model  sample  was  10 P g.l-1 of  water.  The recoveries of the studied compounds were evaluated relative to internal standard (1-Cl-n-octadecane). The highest recoveries  were obtained  for diethyl  ether and  ethyl acetate.  In this case the recoveries are slight influenced by the change of pH of water. The lowest recoveries were obtained for phenol. Recovery of the other chlorophenols was above 60 %. The results of the recoveries showed that this method is possible to use for routine analysis of chlorophenols in water.
